Gift Aid
Gift Aid provides a great opportunity for donors to increase the value of their donation to our charity. Provided you are a taxpayer, we can reclaim from the Inland Revenue the basic rate tax paid on your gift, currently 28p in every pound. You must therefore pay in that tax year at least equal the amount we will reclaim. There are no additional costs incurred by the donor from this scheme.

Standing Order
Standing orders ensure regular donations these are particularly useful to the Trust as they provide a reliable source of income. A small regular donation, though hardly missed by the donor, soon adds up to a substantial donation over time.

Donation in Memory
A donation to Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity is a very special way to remember a loved one, and your gift can help us save lives. A donor can choose to support any ward or department in any of our hospitals.
Many people choose to remember a loved one by making a donation in memory to charity, or by asking for donations as an alternative to sending flowers at a funeral. It can be comforting to know that a gift given in memory of your loved one can help us to enhance our care for the sick and injured. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so either directly or via the funeral director. When you make a donation, we will send you a personal letter to thank you for your gift. If you ask us to, we will also send a personal letter to the next of kin of the person remembered, showing the total amount given.
You may wish to leave an online tribute to your loved one via the Just Giving link. This will enable you to set up an in memory page that relatives and friends can access. It is a lovely way to leave a lasting memory with a photograph and a few special words. This is a safe and secure way to donate and it enables the family to see donations at a glance.
You can also choose to make donations in memory at other times, for example on a special anniversary or birthday when you would like to remember your loved one.
Donation in Lieu
Are you celebrating a special birthday or anniversary this year? Have you reached the point in your life where you already have most of the things you need and are dreading receiving yet another vase or carriage clock from well meaning friends and relatives? Why not ask them to for a donation to our Charity in lieu of a present to your party! We would be delighted to receive the donations in honour of your special day.
Legacy and Bequests
A legacy or bequest is a tax free gift left to a charity in a Will. Charitable bequests are of enormous importance to our work.
There are various ways to give via a Will:
- A Pecuniary Legacy – a specific gift of money.
- A Specific Gift - A specific individual item e.g. a piece of jewellery.
- A General Gift – a specific individual item that is likely to be changed during the course of time e.g. a car.
- A Demonstrative Legacy - paid from a specific account or fund.
- A Residuary Legacy - the residue of an estate, left after all specific gifts and debts are paid.
We would advise you to consult a solicitor for further guidance on this.
Thank you
The Trustees would like to extend their thanks to each and every donor whose generosity makes a significant difference to the work of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
